ESSEX’S Ravi Bopara flew out to the West Indies this week eager to prove his point to the England selectors.

The all-rounder heads out on the England Lions tour, alongside county team-mate Maurice Chambers, fresh from the disappointment of being left out of England’s 15-man World Cup squad…

“I’d like to think I have a good opportunity and I would do my best to make the most of it,” he said.

“I have got to make my next chance count, I have got to score runs in the West Indies and early season to get in for the Test matches against Sri Lanka.

“The opportunity is there, there is a spot available.

“I have got to do my best to score runs and not worry about anyone else, just do my job – I have got a point to prove…”
