West Indies cricketer Devon Smith is mourning the death of his son this week.

Smith, who was appointed captain of the Grenada cricket team for the Windward Islands Two-Day tournament being played in Grenada, withdrew from the team because of the death of one year-old Jayden Smith.

“It’s a great loss to me but my family and friends are very supportive to me and I am coping with the moment,” he told GrenadaSports.

“He was very playful and was a big inspiration to me. He will be missed.

Little Smith will be laid to rest on Tuesday December 17, 2013 near his family home in Plains, St Patrick.
