Career-best bowling from Rayad Emrit spurred Trinidad & Tobago Red Force to a 17-run victory over the Jamaica Franchise in the NAGICO Super50 Tournament today here.

Emrit spoke with WICB Media following play. Details for the download of the audio from these media opportunities are below.

The Red Force captain grabbed 5-56 from his allotted 10 overs to earn the Man-of-the-Match award and Kevon Cooper supported with 3-34 from 10 overs, as the visitors were bowled out for 215 in 49.1 overs in their key Group “B” match before a vocal crowd at the Queen’s Park Oval in the Trinidad & Tobago capital.

It was the first time that Emrit captured five wickets in a List-A One-day match to undermine the Jamaica Franchise batting which was led by opener Nkrumah Bonner with 51 that included five boundaries from 79 balls.

Cooper and the rest of the Red Force attack made sure that none of the other batsmen exploded, although veteran Dave Bernard Jr threatened late with 40 from 50 balls and Andre McCarthy made 37.

The result was the second victory for the home team, virtually securing them a place in the semi-finals with one match remaining in the group stage against Leeward Islands Hurricanes to be played on Tuesday at the same venue.

Earlier, West Indies left-hander Darren Bravo gave the Red Force innings early momentum with eight fours and one six in 55 from 81 balls, after the hosts were put in to bat following a 15-minute delay to the start, due to rain.

Kieron Pollard made 41, Dwayne Bravo, Darren’s elder brother, added 34 and wicketkeeper/batsman Steven Katwaroo brought up the rear with 31, as the Red Force set a respectable target.

Fast-medium bowler Derval Green was the most successful Jamaica Franchise bowler, taking 3-65 from 10 overs, left-arm spinner Nikita Miller, the visitors’ captain, snared two scalps in a miserly 10 over-spell that cost 18 and Marquino Mindley picked up 2-36 from 10 overs.

Summarised scores:

TRINIDAD & TOBAGO RED FORCE 232 off 49.3 overs (Darren Bravo 55, Kieron Pollard 41, Dwayne Bravo 34, Steven Katwaroo 31; Derval Green 3-65, Marquino Mindley 2-36, Dave Bernard Jr 2-48).

JAMAICA FRANCHISE 215 off 49.1 overs(Nkrumah Bonner 51, Dave Bernard Jr 40, Andre McCarthy 37, John Campbell 26; Rayad Emrit 10-0-56-5, Kevon Cooper 3-34).
