Chesney Hughes relished every moment of making his debut at Lord’s despite the innings defeat.  The 19-year-old Anguillan scored 41 and 59 not out in his maiden appearance.  But a 202 run partnership between Neil Dexter and Gareth Berg swung the match in Middlesex’s favour in an innings victory for Angus Fraser’s men.

“It definitely was a dream come true and I relished every moment of it,” Hughes said. “I can take a lot of good memories from it too because I did well.

“I have been thinking about making my first-class debut for some time but I never thought I would be lucky enough to make it at Lord’s. The home of cricket was the best possible venue.

“You walk down the stairs into the long room with the members sat down inside – then a man opens the gate and you walk onto the ground.

“It is pretty much exactly what you see on TV as a kid, dreaming of living that moment.

“I enjoyed the match and I am averaging 100 in first-class cricket which isn’t too bad. Hopefully I will get further opportunities to do more of the same…”
