Chairman of the National Cricket Selectors, Dudnath Ramkessoon has backed Denesh Ramdin to rebound against Pakistan “A” in their tour of the West Indies…

“I am glad to see the (West Indies) selectors have not discarded Denesh and they have included him for the matches against Pakistan “A”. I believe Denesh will show that he is the number one wicketkeeper/batsman in the West Indies and will be back to his true form” said Ramkessoon yesterday…

“They (WICB) said that Ramdin is the best wicketkeeper in the West Indies but his batting has dropped. I thought it was silly to leave him out from the West Indies ‘A’ team because how could he prove that he had made changes to his game? However I am glad to see good sense has prevailed; by including him in the team and he will justify his selection with his batting. Carlton Baugh is under pressure also and will be on show in Sri Lanka and will have to perform” said Ramkessoon…

“Denesh’s back is against the wall but he will emerge much stronger from this and will prove himself. He is a talented player and not being selected for a contract and the West Indies team will not deter him” added Ramkessoon…

“His batting has improved. He worked with Gordon in preparation for the 50-over tournament and played several mature innings. We have seen improvements in his game and are encouraged by the progress he had made” Ramkessoon said…
