Doutta Stars president Paul Gleeson said the club was thrilled to farewell Nash armed with such an apt replacement.
“He’s a prolific run scorer. He’s made 10 first-class centuries and four first-class 50s,’’ he said.
“We’re just lucky to have him in between seasons and we are thrilled to get him at such short notice.”
And Gleeson praised the outgoing Nash, revealing the 29-times capped test batsman always harbored ambitions of returning to the top level.
“He goes back to the West Indies to pursue his first-class career, which he does with our full support,’’ he said.
“What he was always trying to do was get his passion back for cricket, which he has done.
“The Jamaican squad have taken note of that and asked him to head back in order to be considered for national selection.”
Nash hit 335 runs and took 19 wickets in nine matches for the Stars, averaging 55.8 with the willow for the North Division club…
