Barbados and West Indies Under-19 team all-rounder Kyle Mayers and fellow uncapped player, batsman Nicholas Alexis of Trinidad & Tobago, have been drafted into the Combined Campuses & Colleges (CCC) 14-man squad for the West Indies Super 50 championship in Guyana, October 19-29.
They have replaced cousins Carlos Brathwaite and Jonathan Carter, who are to remain members of the Barbados squad which was picked since September 22, but who were amazingly named by CCC as well on October 3 for the same tournament…
Carter, a left-hand batsman and right-arm medium-pacer bowler, has a BCA Grade ‘B’ contract, while Brathwaite, a right-arm medium-fast bowler and middle order batsman, carries a Grade ‘C’ contract.
Article (111) of the BCA contracts under the heading: ‘Players General duties and responsibilities’, states at Section (A) (iv): “The Player shall not play competitive cricket for any entity or team whatsoever, other than the WICB, the BCA or the Players’ registered club without the written consent of the BCA”.
Article (111) (B) (1) states: “Unless he is declared unfit by the BCA or WICB Medical Panel, the Player agrees to take part in all Tours and to play in all matches for which he may be selected by the Selection Panel during the term…”
