Seven (7) teams will compete in the 2012 Regional Four Day Tournament:

Teams:   Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados, Leeward Islands, Windward Islands Guyana and the Combined Campuses and Colleges.

TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE

Group Stage

The group stage of the tournament will involve seven (7) rounds of matches at the end of which the four (4) teams with the most points will advance to the semi final stage of the tournament.  Each Team shall play at least one (1) Day/Night game with the pink ball.

In the event of teams finishing on an equal number of points the higher placed team will be the team which gained the greater number of points when the teams on the same number of points competed against each other in the group stage of the tournament.

If still equal the team (from among the teams on an equal number of points) with the most wins in the group stage

If still equal the team with the higher aggregate of runs divided by wickets taken

Semi Final Stage- The WICB shall determine if either Semi Final shall be with the Pink Ball

The right to compete in the semi final shall be determined by the placings in the Group Stage of the Tournament as follows:

Semi final 1:

First placed regional team group stage vs. Fourth placed regional team group stage

The right to host this semi final shall be awarded to the highest placed regional team in the group stage of the tournament. In the event that there is an International Match being played in the territory with the right to host the semifinal the other competing team shall host the semifinal.

Semi final 2:

Second placed regional team group stage vs. third placed regional team group stage

The right to host this semi final shall be awarded to the second highest placed regional team in the group stage of the tournament. In the event that there is an International Match being played in the territory with the right to host the semifinal the other competing team shall host the semifinal.

In the event of both teams in the semi final finishing on an equal number of points the higher placed .team will be the team with the most wins in the group stage

If still equal the team which gained the greater number of points when the two teams (of the teams which competed in the semi final) competed against each other in the group stage of the tournament.

If still equal the team (of the two teams that competed in the semi final) with the most wins in the group stage

Final – The WICB Shall Determine if the Final Shall Be Played With The Pink Ball.:

The two teams which either win the semi final or accumulated the most points from playing in each of their semi final shall play in the final for the Headley/Weeks Trophy.

The right to host the final shall be awarded to the higher placed team in the group stage of the two teams competing in the final. In the event that there is an International Match being played in the territory with the right to host the final the other competing team shall host the final.

The winner of the Regional Four Day Tournament will be the team which either wins the final or achieves first innings lead in the final. In the event that the final ends in a no decision, the trophy and the prize money will be shared equally.

REGIONAL FOUR DAY POINTS SYSTEM 2012

The tournament will be played on a league basis with each team playing the other once followed by the top four (4) teams progressing to the semi finals and the top two semi finalist into the final.
