THE FORM of first-choice West Indies wicket-keeper Denesh Ramdin is a worry for chairman of the selectors Clyde Butts.
Great article.
Keep Ramdin. Let him play as much cricket as possible. He's a responsible person he'll find form.
Agreed, Ramdin may bee the best ‘keeper at this time in the WI. But, with the bat, he stinks. Do you need some to be excellent in the field and not contribute runs on a frequent basis? I say not. This is the case with Ramdin.
There should be a special, even mandated program for at least three keepers who are “at the the top of their keeping” Then let them bat, and bat, and bat, and bat… until thy kingdom come. Practice makes perfect. They may not become perfect, but will dsefinitely be more skillful with the bat. Lack of playing in big matches in the WI accounts for players not being able to perform aat the highest level. So instal a program where simulated high level games are played. Contract about 30 plaayers. Let trhem play, play, and play. They must get better. Other countries have cricket training programs and they are doing well. Why shouldn’t we?
